THE LIES IN OUR LIVES

Step for once out of illusion, delusion and wishful thinking. Step into a reality right now as I ask this question and I want you to answer this question truthfully and sincerely. You need not give an immediate answer if you know you do not know, don't just answer or be slushy and unrealistic with your answer. The purpose of the question is not to tease you or excite you but to make you think seriously. And I want you to think about it seriously.

This is my question. If someone pays 100 million naira into your account today. What will be the first thing you would do, the second thing you would do and the third thing you would do?

In my seminars, I ask my audience this question in purpose research and planning workshops and the most frequent responses are: at number one, I'd resign from paid employment, number 2, I'd invest it, number 3; I'll start a business.

Then I smile; the responses I expected exactly. Then I begin to ask further questions relating to these responses. And eventually it becomes obvious, many say they would resign from their employments not because they'll now have the opportunity to use their time for something they really want to do, but because they want to escape from paid employment. The response of resigning is most of the time informed by the desire to escape the stress and pressure tied to their jobs.

Many who also say they would invest, only say so to sound financially responsible and disciplined. When asked what they would invest in, many would pause, start to think then say shares and real estate. When I ask further questions about the stock market and the real estate industry, they have no detailed information about these areas. They just know people say they invest in stocks and shares and they also just say the same. Many have no clue how it works or how to invest or profit from the investments.

For those who also say they'll start their businesses, I ask questions about how they would do it? Their area of interest, the product or service they want to offer, their target market, their customer profile, their business plans, their business strategy, corporate culture, their sales strategy, route to market agenda, differentiation, positioning, branding and value chain process management. They just stare at me, having no clue what I'm talking about, in fact they do not even have a business name yet, much less company registration. They are obviously not ready.

You see, many of us wish for a life we are not ready for, we long for a lifestyle we are not prepared for and desire a change we cannot handle yet. Many of us spend hours in prayers and hard work seeking for a life improvement and transformation that we only desire but don't deserve. What it takes to handle what we're asking for, we do not have.

Its basic human instinct to desire wealth and riches. We crave and pray for financial and material surplus. There are some kind of blessings however, if experienced now, will destroy you completely because you can't handle it. You're not ready or prepared for it, it will consequently ruin you.

Many of us do want a good, rich and successful life, but we do not prepare for it. We are not doing anything to prove we are ready for a great life. A great life isn't something that just happens to you, you build a great life.

A great life starts from within you. It's the glory you carry and the greatness you grow on your inside that attracts the glory and the greatness in the world into your life.

Whatever you desire in this life, you create the possibility first in your own life, you create the place and space for it, then it will naturally gravitate towards you. You must work on yourself and make yourself ready for a blessing or a break through before it will ever show up in your life.

People tend to think hard work is being busy running here and there dissipating energy for hours; the real hard work is internal reformation, recreation and transformation – changing who you are is the real hard work. When you improve your quality of being, life rewards you with better quality living. It's not by sweating or perspiring, that's why people in offices earn better than those in the factory. Life does not reward energy as much as it rewards good thinking.
Praying and confession and hard work will not deliver your dreams if your mentality can not handle the dreams. Your life experiences transformation as you renew your mind to understand what is really good, what is really acceptable and what is really perfect according to your maker's plan for your life.

Going back to the question of being handed a 100 million naira and your immediate reaction, contrary to what respondents say about starting a business or investing it, what many people actually do based on our research is this;

  1.       They immediately want friends, family, relatives and everyone to know things have changed. They want their kith and kin to know their condition has improved financially, so they shop for new and expensive clothes first, then they buy new and expensive cars, change the school of their children, maybe move to better neighbourhoods, they plan overseas vacation trips, then they buy a parcel of land and begin to build their house to escape the oppression of their so called greedy landlord.

  2.       They next thing they do is recall a particular experience or item they wanted desperately when they didn't have so much money and had probably brought them shame, scorn or reproach, they go for it and indulge or purchase it, basically to address the psychological pain and discomfort. They, in their minds, address or respond to their critics and the embarrassment of lack.

But let's snap out of it, I'm not very sure there's anyone you know today who would dash out 100 million so let's get real.
The essence of this message today is to question your readiness for the great change you're praying for.
Do you really want the great change or you're just deceiving yourself? What are you doing right now in readiness and anticipation of the change? When suddenly the opportunity you've been waiting for shows up, are you prepared to take it wholly, fully and completely without failing?

Where precisely and in detail are you willing to invest your money if suddenly good money comes your way? What do you know about the business of your dream? What's the pricing strategy like and how do you intend to achieve customer conversion from strong existing competitors? Do you have answers?

How hard are you working on your mind set and mentality to access your dream life and experience?

You cannot access what your mind cannot see, you cannot explore what you cannot access, you cannot explore what you don't understand and you cannot profit from what you cannot comprehend.

Lack is not the same as poverty, in fact lack is the consequence of poverty, poverty is not scarcity of money and resources; poverty is lack of access to money and other important resources. People are not poor because they lack, people lack because they're poor and people are poor because they don't know how to access wealth. Poverty is a knowledge problem.

Poverty is simply not knowing how to become rich, which leads to lack - empty pockets and empty bank accounts, therefore poverty is not a problem of deprivation or insufficient money and resources to go round, it is an ignorance problem.

You can't be poor in your pocket if you're not poor in your knowledge of wealth creation, and if by accident money comes into your pocket and you're still poor in your thinking, you'll soon become poor again in your pocket.

Dear friend, stop this lies in your life, you know you're not ready for great riches and prosperity, you're not prepared for it, you're not ready for the blessings you're praying for, you're not even sure how you'll react to sudden wealth, and I know God will not put on you more than what you can bare. Stop asking for what can destroy you, prepare for it first. Work hard on you mentality and knowledge first and the maturity to handle the blessing, and consequently with ease, your great wealth will locate you.
