It is
written: I believe; therefore I have spoken. Since we have that same spirit of
faith, we also believe and therefore speak.
“2 Corinthians 4:13”
As GOD looked back on
His creation after five days of making things from nothing, He smiled because
everything was good. The beautiful trees that sprouted and grew at His command;
the proud waves that could not push the lines He had drawn; the myriad of birds
that filled the sky in obedience to His command. He had one more project: MAN.
The announcement He made before creating man is very instructive.
He said, “Let us make man in our image and after our likeness.”
The original Hebrew
translation of the 7th verse of the 2nd chapter of the
book of Genesis is “And the Lord God formed man of the slime of
the earth; and breathed into his face the breath of life, and man became
another speaking spirit.”
You are not just a bag
of dust trying to make it through seventy years of human existence. You are
another speaking spirit, just like God! God designed man to operate exactly
like Him. The whole world was created out of God’s spoken word. You can
recreate your world out of your spoken word. To show Adam the authority in his
words, God lined up all the animals He had just created before Adam and asked
him to name them one by one. Whatever Adam called any of them was final! What a
powerful way to teach the power of words.
The apostle Paul sets
good background for us in the book of 2 Corinthians 4:13. The spirit of faith
manifests in the twin act of believing and speaking. It is ironical to call
ourselves believers and not have faith. How can you say you are a believer but
walk in doubt? People that act like this remind me of the man who called out to
Jesus, “I
believe; help my unbelief! (Mark 9: 24)
The mindset God expects
you to work with is the mindset of faith in His word. God’s greatest obsession
is to be trusted.
But without
faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that
He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. “Hebrews 11:6”
So, believing God and
His word is not negotiable if you are going to be a believer. Consider how you
got saved. First, you heard the gospel. You were not there when Jesus died
neither did you witness the resurrection or ascension. However, you believed
the gospel in your heart and you confessed (proclaimed) it with your mouth. As
soon as you did that, you got saved.
The same way God
introduced Adam to the power of his words by causing him to name animals, God
introduced you to the power of the word of God in your mouth by teaching you to
confess and believe so that you can be saved (Romans 10:9). The day you spoke
those words, you were automatically transported from the kingdom of darkness to
the kingdom of God. Glory!!
But you are a
chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people,
that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into
His marvelous lights out of your heart, you were transported from kingdom of
darkness to the kingdom of God. “1 Peter
2:9”
So, what God is telling
us in essence is that the same principle that transformed us into a New
Creation in Christ will transform our lives!
Paul tells us that we
speak because we believe! You see, if you believe but do not speak, nothing
will change. If you speak but do not believe, nothing will change. You must
believe AND speak! Your words have authority. Your words carry power. You can
speak to anything. You can bring life to anything. You are another speaking
spirit in the cadre of God Himself. Jesus showed this plainly when He spoke to
a fig tree and it dried up within twenty-four hours (Mark 11: 12-25). He spoke
to a raging storm and it calmed immediately (Mark 4:35-41). He spoke to a dead
man and he rose from the dead! (John 11:43, 44)
When his disciples
asked him how this was possible, He opened their eyes to the secret that had
existed since the creation of the world. He said in Mark 11:23;
For
assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountains, Be removed and be cast
into the sea; and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things
he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
From this scripture, we
understand that we do not just speak. We speak because we believe. Jesus
believed that no man would eat from the tree again before He spoke. When He
spoke, it naturally happened.
You are a believer;
start acting like one! Whenever you find a word in the scripture for an issue
you are facing or something you desire from the Lord, the first step is to
believe it. You believe it because it has happened already in the spirit. Your
speaking will only make it manifest in the physical.
If you will
not believe, surely you shall not be established.—“Isiah 7:9b”
These words are far
reaching. Is it possible that you are struck on a spot because you really do
not believe? Has it occurred to you that your prayers may be unanswered and you
have not been established because you have not believed? It is time to live up
to our name. we are believers. Cast the doubt out. Embrace God’s word from
within. Begin to speak those words. Confess the scriptures daily. The dimesion
of God’s word you are yet to experience is the part of the word that you do not
believe.
If you believe the
word, say it. Speak it in the morning. Speak it at night. Speak it anywhere you
go. The word of God on your lips is potent as God’s word on His own lpis. In
Ezzekiel 37, the prophet got the kind of results God gets, by saying what God
said.
What has God said
concerning your family’s salvation? What has God said concerning your finances?
What is God Word with regards to your health? Believe it. Speak it. Don’t stop
confessing the Word.

You will do well.
