People like to think
that miracles are like magic. They like to think that God is fairy godmother
who sits back on a lofty throne and waves a wand. We have to come off our
genie-make-a-wish stories that have created an image of a God who, to all
intents and purposes, does magic tricks to impress children.
God still does
miracles. He is a miracle working God, but if you think that everything you
need depends on him, you need to change your theosophy. Truth is, God has made
all things for us to enjoy. Truth is, it is finished, and all things are ours.
Truth is, He has made all things ready, but you still have a part to play to
enjoy the things He’s made ready.
Indeed, God is
Sovereign and He reigns supremely. He however needs your cooperation in order
to step into the issues of your life. When He was going to save the Jews from
Egypt, He asked them to observe the Passover. He told them to demand and take
gifts from their masters. He gave specific instructions for each stage. Every
time Jesus was to perform a miracle, He gave instructions to the prospective
recipient of the miracle. He told the man with the withered hand to stretch out
his hands, he told the lepers to go and show themselves to the priests, he
asked the invalid to rise up, take up his bed and walk.
You see God has given
the earth to the children of men.
“The heaven,
even the heavens, are the Lord’s; But the earth He has given to the children of
men.” Psalm 115:16
For God to do wonders
on the earth, He must partner with man. He did not save the Jews from Egypt
without Moses. He did not wipe the earth clean for a new start without Noah,
and He did not give the Jews the promise land without their participation.
Think about it, He had to get Mary’s agreement before she could be the mother
of Jesus!
When Apostle Paul had
that life changing encounter with the Lord on his way to Damascus, he dropped a
useful key about supernatural partnerships.
“So he,
trembling and astonished, said, “Lord what do you want me to do? – Acts : 6
If you are going to
experience miraculous encounters, you must be willing to find out what your bit
is.
“And as she
was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of
bread in your hand.” So she said “ As the Lord your God lives, I do not have
bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little all in a jar; and see, I
am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and
my son, that we may eat it and die.” And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go
and do as you have said, but make me small cake from it first, and bring it to
me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. (14) for thus says the
Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall jar of
oil run dry, until the day the lord sends rain on the earth.” I kings 17 :
11-14
Many times, we act like
this widow. We want to experience the miraculous but we do not want to make a
move. The realities of the drought that Elijah declared had begun to bit.
People had begun to starve and death was spreading through the land. You see,
the woman had the realities of death starring her in the face and she was
willing to stay in her comfort zone. God wanted to give her a miracle, but she
had to make a move. She had to give the prophet what she had in her hands. She
had to trust God enough to follow His principles.
God is more willing to
release miracles into our lives than we have any idea about. It is the person
who makes the move that sees the wonders of God. It is the person who chooses
to step out in faith that enjoys God’s supernatural encounters.
You will not make a
wave until you make moves. You cannot catch whales in shallow waters. You will
not receive from God if you do not believe His word or follow His principles.
If you want a harvest, you have to sow seeds. If you want to see different
results, you must speak the Word. If you want heaven’s result, you must engage
heaven in prayers.
Nothing just happens!!
Many times we claim to wait for God, but is the one actually waiting for us. He
has played His part and and He wants us to play our part. If we say we have
faith, we must express it! Make up your mind to get what God has in store for
you. Put your faith to work!
“For as the
body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:
26
Wonders happen when we
put our faith to work! We step out of the realms of morals, touch of mortals,
touch the intangible and do the impossible. If you really want to see those
things you have dreamt about, it is time to make a move.
It is your move!
You will do well.
